The Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation  Act (1999) lists the following bat species:

Extinct
Lord Howe Long-eared Bat (Nyctophilus howensis)

Critically Endangered
Southern Bent-Wing Bat (Miniopterus schreibersii bassanii)
Christmas Island Pipstrelle (Pipistrellus murrayi)
Bare-rumped Sheath-tail bat (Saccolaimus saccolaimus nudicluniatus)

Endangered
Greater Large-eared Horseshoe Bat (Rhinolophus philippinensis)
Greater Wart-nosed Horseshoe-bat (Hipposideros semoni)

Vulnerable
Large-eared Pied Bat (Chalinolobus dwyeri)
Spectacled Flying-fox (Pteropus conspicillatus)
Grey-headed Flying-fox (Pteropus poliocephalus)
Pilbara Leaf-nosed Bat (Rhinonicteris aurantia)
South-eastern Long-eared Bat (Nyctophilus corbeni)
