Water for small farms - Workshop summary

"Tapping into it: Water for small farms" was a workshop held recently by the Small Farms Network (Capital Region).

A handy summary of the topics discussed on the day is now available on the Small Farms Network website [1].

Some of the topics covered include:

  • What makes dams leak?
  • Silted up dams
  • Erosion around dams
  • Stock water
  • House water
There are several other useful resources for landholders on small properties available on the SFN website, including: weed management [2], lamb marking & weaning [3], fencing [4]and understanding soils [5].

You can also join the network, or sign up to their newsletter to find out about upcoming events which may be of interest. All details available on the website [6].
