13.6.2. Sheep, goats and others
NLIS Sheep & Goats is Australia's system for identifying and tracing sheep, lambs and farmed goats and was introduced on 1 January 2006. It uses visually readable ear tags printed with a PIC, complemented by flock-based movement documents supplied by consignors that are used for identification and tracking.
From 1 September 2012, anyone who keeps livestock in NSW will be required to obtain a PIC for the land on which the livestock are kept. The expanded requirements also include deer, bison, buffalo, camels, horses (including donkeys), 100 or more poultry birds or 10 or more emus or ostriches.
For more information about ordering NLIS-approved identification devices, see your local LHPA office and for NVD/Waybills go to Meat and Livestock Australia
