Riverina Landcare Strategic Plan 2023
Regional Landcare Facilitators in the Riverina are calling on everyone involved and interested in Landcare across the region to have their say on the future of landcare and sustainable natural resource management in our neck of the woods.
We encourage everyone across the Riverina to get involved!
An online survey is open here. Everyone is invited to complete the survey; it only takes around 10 minutes to complete, and gives you the opportunity to make sure your issues and ideas are heard. The survey will close on 30 April
Focus groups are being held across our region at: Hay, Leeton, Murrumburrah, Adelong, Humula and Henty. All focus group meetings will be in the first week of May, and everyone is welcome to attend. Find out more about the focus groups here.
Background to the project
The project has come about as it’s time for a refresh. Landcare as a grassroots organisation has been around in the Riverina for almost 30 years. It is time to ask the question: What does landcare mean today and importantly, into the future?”
With the Regional Landcare Facilitator Program and more recently the appointment of Local Landcare Coordinators, there is a lot of goodwill for stakeholders to come together and further develop productive partnerships.
This Riverina Landcare project will ensure that everyone involved in the “grassroots” of landcare will have an opportunity to have their say and provide input about the future of landcare. This will see the setting of landcare priorities for the region, through a five-year Strategic Plan for Landcare in the Riverina, aiming to support long term and sustainable natural resource management.
RuralScope Pty Limited has been appointed to coordinate the “grassroots” consultation. Project Leader, Ms Jo Eady, said “Key to this project will be those involved in landcare, community members, those engaged in landcare groups and interested stakeholders across the Riverina. We really want to hear from people about what they see as a positive future for landcare across the Riverina.”
Chair of Murrumbidgee Landcare Inc, Mr Michael Gooden, announced the launch of the Riverina Landcare Strategic Plan 2023 project: “It is timely to call upon the connections and goodwill of all stakeholders. It will be exciting to have all those interested come together to work towards a common future vision for our region.”
Mr Gooden said: “I strongly encourage everyone to get behind this project and to become part of the conversations to shape the forming of the Riverina Landcare Strategic Plan 2023. Let us all work together and give it our best shot.”
