Beckom students build homes for wildlife
Emalene Munro and Lily Day display some of their nest boxes prior to installation.
Two Year 6 students from Beckom Public School successfully applied for a Communities in Landscapes Community Small Grant in 2011.
These green-minded girls rallied the support of family members and the local Men's Shed to produce and install nest boxes for pardalotes, eastern rosellas and microbats around Beckom. These nest boxes may now be found gracing old-growth native trees in the nearby State Forest, along the creek and in a few key areas in town. Some already show signs of use!
