Ecological sustainability presentation - Murrumbateman Landcare Group
Primary tabs
Murrumbateman Landcare Group's August meeting will feature a presentation by Dr Sue McIntyre.
Dr McIntyre has a 35 year association with CSIRO where she was a Senior Principal Research Scientist, conducting research in agricultural ecosystems in the Riverina, Queensland and eastern NSW. Sue led a multidisciplinary-team which worked to define ecological sustainability for mixed grazing-cropping systems in eucalypt grassy woodlands. The resulting book summarizing this work (Managing and Conserving Grassy Woodlands, CSIRO Publishing) has been in print for 15 years.
Sue will provide an introduction, and lead an informal discussion on, ideas around sustainability and the various ways in which this word has been applied and interpreted over the decades. The discussion will aim to clarify in participants’ minds what they mean when the term sustainability is used.
