Marrambidya Wetlands was formally the Narrung Street Sewage Treatment Works. Reclamation and repurposing of the site has been ongoing since July 2015.
The transformed tertiary treatment ponds are designed to replicate the natural water cycle with flooding during the winter months and dryer, low levels during summer. They now provide habitat for migratory and non-migratory birds, water insects, frogs, fish, reptiles and mammals such as the locally threatened Squirrel Glider.
Come along and learn more about the ongoing reclamation of the Marrambidya Wetlands and listen to stories about the environment and Aboriginal Culture at the newly installed audio information stations.
When: Sunday 12 August, 10am -1pm
