Murrumbidgee Landcare e-news - October 2018
Welcome to the October edition of Murrumbidgee Landcare's e-news!
It has been another busy month in the world of Landcare - last week we had the National Landcare Conference, which was a great opportunity to learn what is happening across the country. I saw some fantastic presentations, covering topics such as engaging youth in Landcare, a new “Dark Sky Reserve” in South Australia, and communicating scientific research to farmers. Feel free to contact me if you’d like more information!
The National Landcare Awards were also announced, with Boorowa locals Charlie Arnott and David Marsh picking up the prestigious Bob Hawke Landcare Award and Australian Government Individual Landcarer Award, respectively. A huge congratulations to these hard-working Landcarer’s!
This Sunday we have a fabulous Holistic Farming Bus Tour planned, providing the opportunity to visit some progressive local farms. Bird Week is also coming up, with several “Breakfast with the Birds” events planned, in partnership with the ANU Sustainable Farms program. The Aussie Backyard Bird Count is also on, so it’s a great time to get out and appreciate the birds in your neighbourhood.
Remember, if you’d like some assistance or advice on anything to do with Landcare, you can always contact your Local Landcare Coordinator or the Murrumbidgee Landcare office. We’re here to help all Landcarer’s in our region!
